Secretary of State for the Colonies.

IMMEDIATE. Urgent.

Your telegram of 11th December Haiching Pirasy.

I very strongly recommend that is Majesty may be pleased to

grant the following honours at the New Year. * consider

them very well doserved.

Award of C.B.E. to Omonde Hedworth Farrar, the

Master of the Ship, who, by careful anti-piracy preparations

beforehand by personal leadership and by his skilful conduct

of the defence was mainly responsible for saving ship.

For Chief Officer Robert Perry who, though wounded

by a pirate whom he shot dead, assisted throughout in the

defence of the ship. 0.B.E.

For Chief Engineer Frederick Charles Duxon who not

only helped in defence of ships bridge but also wa chiefly

instrumental in subduing fire M.B.E.

For second Officer Alen Frederick Johrion who was

on watch and acted against the pirates with the gren est promptitude

and resouros, I.B.E.

M.B. E. for Third Engineer Albert de Mello. Although seized by four armed pirates, he eluded them, knocking one down, and aided in defence of the bridge.

Award of these honours promptly would give great pleasure to Colony and would encourage other ships' officer: to not against

act

mirates with similar gallantry.
